Real Estate Description

This unique self-sufficient estate lies in over 7 acres of organically run farmland in Central Istria. It sits nestled in a landscape of gentle, rolling hills, rich in Mediterranean flora and fauna. There are around 120 organically grown olive trees as well as orchards with 20 cherry, a dozen fig and many apple, peach, pear and plum trees, all organically produced along with the seasonal vegetables.

The estate produces its own organic seasonal food, first class olive oil and varieties of wine with the help of the renewable energy as much as possible. The home is fitted with solar collectors with an under floor heating system, run using renewable energy. Rain water is collected from the roofs, so as not to waste precious resources. In addition, the property is connected to a natural spring with fresh drinking water. There are three buildings on the estate, all thermally insulated: The main house comprises 5 double bedrooms, with en-suite bathrooms, kitchen living and dining area, a separate half-bath, terrace – all designed to provide a comfortable stay with a touch of luxury without feeling the guilt. There is separate building used as guest house with additional spacious bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, terrace and a traditional konoba with seating provided and open fire place. In the garden there is a stone house which is used as sauna and fitness area with additional bathroom. All in natural and tranquil setting. It is the perfect location for exploring the delights of Istria, the rest of Croatia, Slovenia (20km) and Italy (30km) as well as many tourist spots in the surrounding area.

This estate has managed to be both: functional as well as aesthetically pleasing, keeping the authentic look and feel of the place. In autumn, the truffles are picked from surrounding forests, the grapes and olives are picked and harvested for organic production of vine and cold pressed extra virgin olive oil. In winter an array of unique traditional Istrian Carnival events are staged, with rich entertainment program. The spring is reserved for picking the asparagus and other healthy herbal plants. The summer brings a plenty of choices from visiting the nearby sea resorts south, east and west from the estate or checking out some of many regional art and cultural festivals. Paradise for children and pets, there is also a children playground, table tennis, badminton and bocce (closely related to the game of boules). Cycling rules the countryside and this is the right spot to access and visit all of Istria on a bike. The location is ideal for researching and exploring the beauty of the whole region. Warm, welcoming locals will look forward that you spend some time through their wine cellars and get more closely acquainted with their local products and fine wine.
